Carlota, do 5º DAll the students are very excited! They chose their costumes and here they are... all dressed up according to their team’s name.
The race began... and the adrenalin was high! They had to be in good shape to go through different types of barriers without letting the pancake fall down on the floor.

The first team reaching the end in a shorter time wiothout breaking the rules, won the competition.

Congratulations to all the teams and see you... soon!

The Pancake Race is...

The Pancake Race is a tradition since 1950, the International running of the Pancake Race has become a syJorge, 6º Dmbolic event of peace and unity between the United States and England.
Pancake Day is always on Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent. Some people refer to it as “Fat Tuesday.” It is a centuries-old traditional holiday.
The race in Olney is now run from the Market Place to a point midway down Church Lane - a distance of 415 yards. Pancakes are tossed by the competitors at the start and the winner is required to toss her pancake again at the finish. She then received the traditional kiss from the Verger. The Vicar, too, greets the winner with the ‘Kiss of peace’, namely the blessing: “The peace of the Lord be always with you”.

The date varies each year: it is either in February or in March.

In 2006, Shrove Tuesday is on Tuesday 28 February.

To take part in this race there are rules you have to follow:

  • Race begins with the following command: “ARE YOU READY? GO!!!”
  • Pancake must be flipped before and after the race to prove contestants are in possession of “official pancake.”
  • Pancake must be flipped at least once during the course of the race.
  • If a participant drops the pancake, the participant must either take a five-second penalty.
  • The winner is the individual who crosses the finish line first.
